The 7th Eastern Africa Reproductive Health Network (EARHN) coordination meeting will be held between 4 and 5 October 2017 at the Jambo Chester Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.
The meeting, whose theme is « From MDGs to SDGs: Development of Country Action Plans », will be flagged off officially by the Director-General of the Kenya National Council for Population and Development (NCPD). The forum shall bring together technical people from the respective ministries of health, ministries and/or departments responsible for planning, and representatives of civil society organisations from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia and South Sudan
The focus of this forum shall be to disseminate the EARHN Strategic Plan 2017 -2021; to develop country-specific action plans for promoting reproductive health and family planning (RH/FP) that are anchored around the Network’s Strategic Plan, and to discuss and gain consensus on the leadership and governance issues for EARHN.
AFIDEP’s Violet Murunga will speak at the meeting on the Status of RH/FP in the Eastern African Region.
The EARHN is a south-south regional advocacy network formed with the core objective of enabling its member countries undertake a series of advocacy activities geared towards the improvement of reproductive health services and programmes in the region. Since 2008, Partners in Population and Development Africa Regional Office (PPD ARO) and its partners have organised annual EARHN coordination meetings with the goal of sharing progress on achievements made, opportunities and the challenges that remain in the implementation of EARHN Strategic Plans. The annual coordination meetings also provide opportunities for sharing good, innovative and cost-effective practices for addressing reproductive health, family planning and population challenges in the Eastern Africa region.
