AFIDEP at the WHO/IBP Network partners meeting: Dr. Bernard Onyango delivers keynote presentation on strengthening the cross-sectoral benefits of family planning

The African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) will on 23 September 2021 at 18.10pm to 19.10pm (EAT) participate at the WHO/IBP Network partners meeting, a global platform for local impact. Dr. Bernard Onyango, Senior Research and Policy Analyst at AFIDEP will be a keynote speaker during the event’s panel discussion on ‘Shifting Powers within Global Health: The Role of Local Organizations.’

Other panellists include: Tabinda Sarosh, Country Director – Pathfinder Pakistan; Albert Obuyyi, Executive Director – Center for Study of the Adolescence (CSA), Kenya; Aruna Uprety, Founder – Rural Health Education Services Trust (RHEST), Nepal; and Marie-Evelyne-Petrus-Barry, Regional Director – International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), Africa Region. The session will be moderated by Trinley Athup, IBP Network Consultant and Co-founder of Khema, Inc.

Dr. Onyango will share on the global USAID funded project, Building Capacity for Integrated Family Planning/Reproductive Health and Population, Environment and Development Action (BUILD) which AFIDEP is implementing. The project aims to strengthen the cross-sectoral benefits of family planning.

BUILD will play an important role in ensuring decision-makers understand the cross-sectoral benefits of voluntary family planning and in turn, implement policies and programs to help meet demand for family planning and other development sector outcomes.
