Members of Parliament (MPs) who serve on parliamentary health committees across various parliaments in Africa, and other stakeholders in health on the continent are convening in Munyonyo, Uganda between 30-31 October 2018 for the 10th Network of African Parliamentary Committees of Health (NEAPACOH) annual meeting. This year, much like last year’s meeting, the forum will bring focus around reproductive health (RH) and family planning (FP), with the theme « Building the capacity of African policy makers for reproductive health and family planning: Challenges and Opportunities for Parliaments to enhance reproductive health and family planning ».
The meeting is jointly organised by the Partners in Population and Development « Africa Regional Office (PPD-ARO) in partnership with AFIDEP and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga is expected to officiate the opening of the meeting.
AFIDEP is represented at this year’s meeting by the Executive Director, Dr. Eliya Zulu, and Dr. Bernard Onyango, Knowledge Translation Scientist. Dr. Zulu will give opening remarks during the opening ceremony on Tuesday morning, 30 October 2018. In the afternoon, Dr. Onyango will give a presentation documenting case studies of African countries on track in making the various strides to enhance the realisation of the demographic dividend for the socio-economic transformation of their citizens.
