The Kenya NGOs Week 2022 will bring together diverse NGOs to engage with other stakeholders and the public, as they (NGOs) showcase their initiatives, innovative solutions and best practices through exhibition, knowledge sharing and social efforts. The event will also serve to highlight the NGO sector contribution to the national economy through the launch of the Annual NGOs Sector Report for the FY 2020/2021.
The NGOs Week 2022 comes in the wake of unprecedented social and economic impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The NGO sector has and continues being at the forefront complimenting government efforts in the fight against the pandemic through provision of PPE kits, relief services, water and sanitation, training of community health workers, health care and public awareness. On the flipside, the pandemic has adversely impacted on fundraising within the NGO sector with NGOs reporting decreased funding. It is envisaged that showcasing the critical NGO sector development role and impact and facilitating networking will serve to trigger increased donations and support for NGOs.
