Research enablers for impact: Accelerating the impact of the UK’s investment in international development research

Dynamic dialogue discussion hosted by the UK Collaborative on Development Research (UKCDR) to bring together a diverse range of players in the international development research community to exchange perspectives and experiences on how to enable, accelerate and evaluate impact of the UK’s investment in international development research.
The event will also launch 11 high level impact success stories compiled through a unique collaborative effort by UK research funders including FCDO (Formerly DFID), UKRI, BEIS, DHSC and Wellcome, showcasing the critical role which research plays in addressing the challenges faced by developing countries, and the UK’s contribution to achieving that impact.
Discussion questions:
- Why does greater investment in research matter?
- In particular, how can it mitigate global threats – eg COVID-19 (climate change, pandemics, overpopulation, conflict)? achieving the Sustainable Development Goals?

- How can investment in research help us balance national and global interests?
- How can we ensure research makes a difference? What are the enablers of research impact?
- Why does interdisciplinarity matter and how can we best deliver it?
- How can we balance equity and research excellence?

- What do equitable partnerships look like and how can we move towards them?
