Our People
Oliver Kaonga serves at AFIDEP as a Health Economist, and is based in Lusaka, Zambia.
Oliver has professional experience spanning over a decade of research, policy analysis, advocacy, and teaching. Prior to joining AFIDEP, he served as a health financing advisor at the Ministry of Health in Zambia, working in the Policy and Planning department. His core expertise is around Health Financing, Health Policy Analysis, Health Economic Evaluations, and Health System Strengthening in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Oliver earned his Ph.D in health economics from the University of York, where his doctoral thesis focused on cost-effectiveness analyses of healthcare interventions in low- and middle-income countries. He also holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Zambia.
He is a member of several professional associations, including the International Health Economics Association and the African Health Economics and Policy Association.
In his spare time, Oliver enjoys reading, engaging in community service, travelling and sports tourism.
