AFIDEP’s Director of Research for Sustainable Development Policies and Head of Malawi office, Prof. Nyovani Madise<\/a>, is attending the Stockholm+50 Conference in Stockholm, Sweden. The conference is themed\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0A healthy planet for the prosperity of all – Our responsibility, our opportunity.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n

The event will focus on how academics and scientists can further develop capacities to support transformations for sustainable health for people and planet. It will:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Explore examples of how academia has contributed to transformative changes related to sustainable development<\/li>\n
  2. Focus on how capacities within academic institutions in terms of research and higher education should be further developed and strengthened to support innovative system-based solutions and accelerate necessary change (transformation) processes<\/li>\n
  3. Present examples on how academia can deliver support within the context of complex policy and decision-making landscapes<\/li>\n
  4. Highlight how academia can contribute to a sustainable transformation that drives innovation, entrepreneurship and green jobs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Prof. Nyovani Madise is a panellist on a side event themed \u00ab\u00a0Sustainable planet, sustainable health \u2013 how science-based solutions can drive transformative change.\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0 <\/em>In her session, she highlights evidence use for cross-sectoral policies in population, environment and development in the African context.<\/p>\n

    The conference has been organised by Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University, Stockholm Environment Institute.<\/p>\n
