AFIDEP through the Malawi Parliament Enhancement Project (MPEP)<\/a>\u00a0is delighted to introduce the MISA Malawi Annual Awards<\/a> on parliamentary reporting to be held on the 3rd of October 2020 at the Capital Hotel in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA)<\/a> seeks to promote and advocate for unhindered enjoyment of freedom of expression, access to information and free independent diverse media reporting. The media play an important role in governance and accountability and recognising the work journalists do is central in informing the public and shaping public discourse. In acknowledging their efforts, the awards will celebrate journalists who consistently report high-quality parliamentary stories to promote transparency and accountability in parliament\u2019s work in carrying out public sector reforms.<\/p>\n

The awards seek to inspire journalists to commit to more reporting and sensitizing on the work of parliament to improve the public\u2019s understanding of the work of parliament as well as their engagement with the parliament.<\/p>\n

AFIDEP is sponsoring two categories to the awards in print and digital mediums.
