On this day, the successes in the fight against malaria are highlighted as well as leaders and stakeholders urged to step up the fight to end malaria globally. Although the world, since 2000 has made historic progress against malaria, half of the world since faces risk from this preventable and treatable diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Malaria is one of the deadliest vector-borne diseases killing over 1.2 million people annually, mostly African children under the age of five. AFIDEP is keen to contribute to realizing a malaria-free world through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afidep.org\/programme\/partnership-for-increasing-the-impact-of-vector-control-piivec\/\">Partnership for Increasing the Impact of Vector Control (PIIVEC)<\/a> project which aims to develop evidence-based strategies for the control of vector-borne disease in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>To mark this year&rsquo;s World Malaria Day, AFIDEP carried out an online campaign.
