World Tuberculosis (TB) Day is celebrated each year to raise public awareness about tuberculosis which remains an epidemic in most parts of the world. TB\u00a0 continues to cause the deaths of nearly one-and-a-half million people each year, mostly in developing countries.<\/p>\n
This day commemorates the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch astounded the scientific community by announcing that he had discovered the cause of tuberculosis, the TB bacillus. The theme of this year\u2019s World TB Day is, \u00ab\u00a0Its Time\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n
