Bernard Njiri\u00a0<\/strong>joins AFIDEP as a Research and Policy Analyst based at the Nairobi Office. He is an adept economist with a particular interest in applying quantitative methods to inform policy design, including macroeconomic modeling and impact analysis.<\/p>\n

At AFIDEP, he is leading analytical work on how macroeconomic policies in East and West Africa are gender-responsive for Women\u2019s Economic Empowerment (WEE), with the goal of achieving equity and inclusive growth outcomes. Benard’s work centers on generating rigorous, policy-relevant evidence to inform decision-making and identifying strategic entry points for embedding gender responsiveness within fiscal and macroeconomic frameworks.<\/p>\n

He previously served as a Senior Research Analyst at the Institute of Public Finance (IPF), where he led macro-fiscal and public debt analyses, as well as budget analytics, for both the national government and county governments. He is also a member of the Young Economists Network (YEN) under the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Njiri has extensive experience engaging government institutions, Parliament, development partners, the media, and civil society organisations in policy dialogues that translate complex economic analysis into actionable, evidence-informed policy recommendations.<\/p>\n

Bernard has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with IT from Maseno University in Kenya, a Master’s in Financial Economics from Kyushu University in Japan, and is finishing his PhD in Macroeconomics with DSGE modeling at Stellenbosch University.<\/p>\n
