Kenya 2017 Legislative Summit to deliberate evidence-informed decision-making

Development experts and policymakers from the Kenya Parliament and Senate, are set to deliberate the role of evidence in law making in the Kenya Legislature at the ongoing 2nd Annual Legislative Summit. Specifically, the policymakers shall discuss the challenges and opportunities for strengthening effective and efficient law making processes. Participating in this panel discussion which shall take place on 23rd March 2017 is AFIDEP’s Director, Science and Evidence Uptake, Dr. Rose Oronje. Other panelists shall be Dr. Johnson Okello-Ag. Director, Legal Services, Senate Kenya and Mr. Edward Libendi, Clerk Makueni County Assembly. The moderator of the session shall be Ms. Jane Mutai, Clerk, Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly.

Conversations at the Summit are focused on effective legislation to ensure sustainable development at the grassroots.

The Summit, which is being held at the PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort in Mombasa County, kicked off on 19th March 2017 and is set to close on 24th March 2017. The Summit was officially opened on 22nd March 2017 by H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya.
