Kenya’s National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) is hosting the first ever Africa-China conference on Population and Development whose theme is Harnessing the demographic dividend in Africa. The conference, which is hosted in collaboration with the China Population and Development Research Centre and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is taking place from 18th to 19th April 2017 at the Hilton Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.
Dr. Eliya Zulu, the Executive Director, AFIDEP, shall be moderating a session on population data, methodology and decision making support.
The conference seeks to provide a platform where researchers and practitioners in population and development can share experiences, best practices and lessons on population and development.
As African countries continue working towards individual country long term development plans and the sustainable development goals (SDGs), the conference seeks to capitalise on the potential of collaboration and partnership between Africa and China. Specifically, the conference provides a platform for Africa’s young professionals in population and development to benefit from capacity strengthening from their China counterparts.
