AFIDEP at Malawi National Public Health Research Dissemination Conference

AFIDEP is participating in the National Public Health Research Dissemination Conference at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, Malawi on 29-31 October, 2025.

Under the theme “Advancing Public Health Research for Building Resilient and Sustainable Systems,” the conference highlights Malawi’s commitment to using science, technology, and evidence to strengthen health systems and achieve universal health coverage (UHC).

Dr Eliya Zulu, AFIDEP’s Executive Director, joins a high-level panel discussing the role of non-governmental organisations in spearheading and supporting research in Malawi.

Dr Michael Chipeta, AFIDEP’s Senior Research and Policy Analyst, will present an abstract titled “Assessing monitoring of national and sub-national population viral load suppression with routinely collected samples in Malawi”.

Dr McEwen Khundi, AFIDEP’s Research and Policy Analyst, will be presenting an abstract on “Sub-national and demographic trends in HIV viral load suppression in Malawi: Insights for monitoring and sustaining epidemic control”.

Themba Mzembe, AFIDEP’s Research and Policy Analyst, will be presenting an abstract on “Routine HIV Testing Data as a Tool for Monitoring HIV Incidence in Malawi: A District-Level Triangulation Approach”.

Gracious Ali, AFIDEP’s Research and Policy Associate, will be moderating a session on “Social and Behavioral Science Research in Public Health”.

AFIDEP’s participation underscores its commitment to advancing evidence-informed policies and strengthening Malawi’s sustainable health system. As a key player in regional research and policy engagement, AFIDEP’s engagement demonstrates the institution’s growing leadership in bridging research, policy, and practice towards achieving UHC in Malawi and beyond.
