AFIDEP is participating in the 17th Network of African Parliamentary Committees of Health (NEAPACOH) Conference, engaging alongside parliamentarians, policymakers, and regional health stakeholders to advance evidence-informed policymaking across Africa.

Venue: Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC), Lusaka, Zambia
Theme: Repositioning the role of parliamentarians for enhancing health systems for emergency response, equity, resilience and sustainability in the context of attaining Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The conference provides a strategic platform for AFIDEP to share its research, policy engagement experiences, and practical lessons from supporting governments to translate data and evidence into responsive health and development policies.
AFIDEP will contribute to the following sessions:
- Advancing Resilient and Self-Reliant Health Systems for Attainment of UHC in Sub-Saharan Africa: The Impact of Climate Change and the Role of Parliamentarians –Nurudeen Alhassan, Ph.D. (Senior Research and Policy Analyst – Acting Theme Lead, Environment and Climate Change)
- Beyond Aid: Financing Universal Health Coverage in Africa amid Declining ODA, Fiscal Constraints, and the Rise of PPPs and Philanthropic Partnerships –Jackson Otieno, Ph.D. (Senior Research and Policy Analyst)
- Optimising Gendered Interventions to Accelerate the End TB Campaign in Africa: Lessons from the LIGHT Consortium – Dr Brenda Mungai (Research Uptake Lead)
Through this engagement, AFIDEP aims to strengthen partnerships with parliamentary health committees and regional institutions by highlighting its role as a trusted knowledge and policy intermediary.
By participating in NEAPACOH, AFIDEP seeks to reinforce the central role of evidence-informed decision-making in improving health outcomes across the continent and to support parliamentarians in championing policies that address priority public health challenges and sustainable development in Africa.
