The African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) is honoured to participate in the launch of the Kenya Population Situation Analysis (PSA) Report 2025 by the National Council for Population and Development.
Violet Murunga, AFIDEP’s Research and Policy Analyst and Theme Lead for Evidence Use Capacity Development, will join other implementing partners to deliver remarks at this significant event.
The 2025 Population Situation Analysis highlights the remarkable progress made by the Government of Kenya and its partners in addressing the needs of the country’s population. Through proactive implementation of the national population policy, alongside related policies and global, regional, and national commitments, Kenya continues to make meaningful strides toward sustainable development.
Importantly, the report underscores that Kenya’s growing youthful working-age population presents a time-bound opportunity to harness a demographic dividend that can accelerate economic growth. Realising this potential will require timely and strategic investments in education, health, job creation, and inclusive economic opportunities.
AFIDEP was involved in the production of the analysis and reviewed some chapters including the one on data, research and innovation. We remain committed to strengthening the use of evidence in policymaking to ensure that population dynamics translate into improved development outcomes for all.
