The webinar series on Prioritising Health in Climate Change Action in Africa aims to unite global stakeholders for a dialogue on the intersectionality between health and climate change, focusing on Africa. This series will galvanise interest and spur policy and programme action around key climate change events, including the Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA) Conference, Africa Climate Summit (ACW), Africa Climate Week (ACW), and the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 28).
This webinar series will be organised by stakeholders from the government, research and policy institutions, as well as civil society actors across the development sector. The webinar series will consist of three sessions from August to October 2023.
The sessions will engage policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and civil society to foster dialogue and generate actionable insights for effective climate change and health action in Africa.
Webinar 1: The Public Health Impacts of Climate Change: Unravelling the Science and Solutions for Sustainable Adaptation and Mitigation in Africa.
The first webinar provides an overview of the linkages between climate change and health in the African context, emphasising the impacts on vulnerable populations.
