Ishu joins AFIDEP as a Research intern under the LIGHT and Advancing Domestic Health Financing (ADHF) Projects and is based in the Malawi Office.
A third-year student majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Creative Writing, Ishu has a strong foundation in both the sciences and humanities. She has experience in healthcare environments, including work as a certified phlebotomy technician, an aide in a physical and occupational therapy rehab center, and a research assistant for over three years in wet and dry lab settings. Ishu has also been an active hospital and community volunteer, contributing to patient discharge and emergency services, as well as food insecurity initiatives
Her global health interests have taken her to Malawi for hands-on exposure to international public health systems. Ishu will be attending medical school at Michigan State University, starting in the fall of 2026.
In her free time, outside academics, Ishu enjoys ceramics and running.
