McEwen joins AFIDEP as a Research and Policy Analyst in the Malawi Office. He will support the Institute’s work on spatial epidemiological analyses of key health indicators from various health surveys
A well experienced researcher, McEwen brings skills and knowledge in designing data capturing and analysis tools, setting up trials database, monitoring of overall data process during trials and writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for different projects.
He brings in over ten years of experience having worked as an Epidemiologist and data manager respectively at the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust (MLW). He has also worked as a lecturer at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES).
McEwen holds a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Computer Science from the University of Malawi. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Medical Statistics from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
In his free time, McEwen enjoys watching football, playing social football and hiking.
