Our People

Michael serves at AFIDEP as a Senior Research and Policy Analyst, Theme Lead for Health and Wellbeing. Michael’s work involves spatial epidemiology analyses for health utilisation indicators and health outcomes. Michael has a keen interest in geospatial (spatial and Spatio-temporal) statistics, epidemiology, broad aspects of biostatistics, public health (including anti-microbial resistance research), applied statistics and evidence-informed decision-making.
Prior to joining AFIDEP, Michael worked with the University of Oxford, as a Researcher in Geospatial Epidemiology; Lancaster University, as a Biostatistics Research Associate; and Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust (MLW) as a Data Manager/Statistician.
Michael holds a Ph.D. in Statistics and Epidemiology from the University of Lancaster, UK, an MSc in Biostatistics and a BSc in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Malawi.
