Covid-19 has hit Africa and Europe hard on many levels. Rebuilding a more resilient economy is of key importance after the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. The two continents can best tackle this great challenge in cooperation. At the same time, the crisis offers both continents the opportunity for a green transition.
The Africa Roundtable is a new forum for decision-makers from politics, business and society for European-African cooperation. The dialogue platform provides a space for current pressing questions and challenges of the neighboring continents as well as partnership solutions and models of future cooperation to be discussed.
Focusing on ‘African-European Cooperation on Green Transition and Covid-19 Recovery’, the first Africa Roundtable event will take place on 9 June 2021 at 10.00 – 12.30 hrs (CEST / CAT). The convening will feature high-level speakers, panelists and participants.
Opening keynote addresses will be delivered by President of the Federal Republic of Germany – HE Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier and President of the Republic of Senegal – HE Macky Sall. AFIDEP Executive Director, Dr. Eliya Zulu is among the selected participants attending the event.
The Africa Roundtable event is hosted by the Global Perspectives Initiative and supported by Robert Bosch Stiftung, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Mo Ibrahim Foundation, McKinsey & Company, Phineo and Munich Security Conference.
