Dr Jackson Ongong’a Otieno joins AFIDEP as a Senior Health Financing Expert, to lead the implementation of the health financing project – Advancing Domestic Health Financing (ALDIH).
Dr Otieno brings in over 18 years of professional work experience in national planning and development, strategic management and performance, and resource management.
Prior to joining AFIDEP, Jackson worked with the Kenya government, in different ministries and agencies, in the functions of health, planning, development, devolution and Vision 2030 among others. His most recent role was Senior Manager-strategy and Performance Management, at Athi Water Works Development Agency, Kenya.
He has conducted several consultancy assignments and is widely published in his area of expertise.
Jackson holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and a Masters in Economic Policy and Management from Makerere University, Uganda. He also holds a Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the same university.
During his free time, Jackson likes traveling and mountaineering. He boasts of conquering a number of mountains in Kenya, across Africa and the rest of the world. He also enjoys listening to African Rhumba
