The upcoming Devolution Conference on 15–19 August 2023 in Eldoret, Kenya under the theme “10 Years of Devolution: The Present and the Future,” will mark a decade of the decentralised system of government.
Provision of healthcare services is a devolved function in Kenya. At the conference, AFIDEP, through one of its projects Advance Domestic Health Financing (ADHF), will share invaluable insights on domestic resource mobilization for health with diverse audiences including the Ministry of Health, Council of Governors, policymakers, development partners, CSOs, and the private sector.
The ADHF project is deeply rooted in supporting the government of Kenya to strengthen health systems and promote evidence-based policies that will lead to sustainable improvements in provision of primary health care (PHC), and the wellbeing of women and girls. The project’s goals align with the government’s aim to achieve universal health coverage (UHC) by ensuring access to quality healthcare services for all citizens.
AFIDEP’s ADHF project evidence synthesis outputs informed the country’s position paper on domestic health financing that was presented during the national high-level dialogue on domestic health financing presided over by Prime Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, in June 2023 in Nairobi.
For those eager to gain insights from AFIDEP and explore the transformative potential of evidence-based health financing in Kenya, make a point of visiting AFIDEP’s booth – number 96 – at the Devolution Conference in Eldoret. Our experts will be available to share insights on the status of healthcare financing in Kenya, status of healthcare financing in counties, and factors influencing reforms and implementation of Kenya’s national health insurance scheme.
