Harnessing research, innovation, and emerging technologies for a resilient future

The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) and the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) are hosting a side event at the 38th AU Summit of Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa Ethiopia H.E. Lazarus Chakwera, President of Malawi; H.E. Prof. Yaye Gassama, Chair of the African Union High Level Panel on Emerging Technologies (APET); H.E. Nardos Thomas Bekele, CEO of AUDA-NEPAD; and Dr Eliya Zulu, Executive Director of AFIDEP areamong the distinguished guests expected to grace the event.. 
 
The event will review the significant strides in advancing science, technology and innovation (STI) capabilities in Africa to address its development challenges. It will also outline opportunities to enhance research and development (R&D) efforts, including the development and deployment of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, and blockchain. 
 
It will also feature presentations and official launches of knowledge products, including a monograph developed by AUDA-NEPAD and AFIDEP, Leveraging Research Prioritisation and Emerging Technologies to Strengthen Healthcare Delivery in Africa, which provides a comprehensive analysis of Africa’s healthcare landscape and opportunities emerging technologies provide for its positive transformation.
