Understanding the economic value of family planning: Evidence from the Family Planning (FP-Impact) Consortium

New evidence from 11 sub-Saharan African countries shows that family planning delivers measurable economic and social gains. Across multiple models, family planning increases women’s participation in paid work, strengthens their control over financial resources, and is associated with broader measures of autonomy, including financial decision-making and time-use control. This infographic highlights key findings from the FP-Impact Consortium’s multi-country research on how family planning contributes to women’s empowerment and economic progress.
