Dissemination Workshop: Political Economy Analysis of Youth Employment in Nigeria
Date: 6 May 2026
Location: Rockview Hotel Wuse II, Abuja
The Youth Futures Policy Research Project will convene a high-level dissemination workshop to present and discuss findings from the Political Economy Analysis (PEA) of youth employment in Nigeria. The event brings together stakeholders from government, private sector, civil society, and development partners to engage with evidence and explore practical solutions to one of the country’s most pressing development challenges.
Nigeria’s rapidly growing youth population presents both a significant opportunity and a complex policy challenge. While youth employment remains a national priority, progress has been constrained by structural economic factors, institutional fragmentation, and gaps in policy implementation. The Political Economy Analysis examines the underlying incentives, power dynamics, and governance systems shaping youth employment outcomes, offering a deeper understanding of why existing approaches have struggled to deliver inclusive and sustainable results.
This workshop serves as a platform to translate research into action. Participants will reflect on key findings, validate policy recommendations, and identify concrete steps to strengthen coordination across sectors such as skills development, labour markets, and industrial policy. The discussions will also explore how emerging forms of work—including digital and platform-based employment—can be better supported through responsive policy and regulatory frameworks.
Ultimately, the event aims to catalyze dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and build momentum toward more coherent, inclusive, and future-oriented youth employment strategies in Nigeria.
