Policy Dialogue: Political Economy Analysis of Youth Employment in Kenya
Date: 18 June 2026
Location: Pullman Nairobi, Upper Hill
The Youth Futures Policy Research Project is hosting a strategic policy dialogue to translate insights from its Political Economy Analysis (PEA) into concrete policy action. Moving beyond traditional research dissemination, this forum is designed to bridge the gap between evidence and implementation.
The dialogue brings together policymakers, youth leaders, and private sector actors to confront the structural and governance bottlenecks that keep many Kenyan youth trapped in precarious and informal work. Drawing on PEA findings, participants will identify practical pathways for unlocking opportunities for mass, dignified, and fulfilling youth employment.
Dialogue Objectives
AFIDEP and the CAP Youth Empowerment Institute have conducted a comprehensive Political Economy Analysis of youth employment in Kenya, generating evidence to support more effective policies, investments, and programmes for youth job creation. The dialogue will:
- Discuss the emerging findings and their implications for policy, investment, and programming.
- Identify concrete actions that government agencies and other stakeholders can advance to accelerate the creation of mass, dignified, and fulfilling employment opportunities for young people in Kenya.
