Session Title: Africa Transforming Africa – From Ambition to Action

Date: October 14,  2026,

Time: 15:15–16:20 PM
Venue: Rembrandt Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand

The session will highlight perspectives from two Africa-led representatives – New African Financial Architecture for Development (NAFAD) and the Building Resilience and Impact through Dialogue and Galvanising Action for Evidence-Informed Policymaking (BRIDGE Africa Consortium) which is part of the three pan-African Consortia under the African Think Tanks (ATTP).

The central question is how Africa can turn finance, jobs and reform into real economic transformation during a period of rising global uncertainty.

The conversation is framed around three linked themes:

  1. Financing Africa’s future: mobilising more of Africa’s own capital, strengthening African financial institutions, and directing finance toward structural transformation, including through NAFAD.
  2. Jobs, skills and productive economies: moving beyond growth alone toward more productive, diversified economies that create better jobs for a fast-growing workforce.
  3. Making transformation happen: handling the politics of difficult reforms, sustaining progress through economic and geopolitical shocks, and helping the AU and regional bodies support governments in turning continental goals into national action.

The ATTP is a pan-African, African Union Commission-led initiative that strengthens the collaboration of African think tanks in generating evidence, policy solutions, and implementation tools for Agenda 2063.

The Platform works across six priority themes:
➡️ economic transformation and governance,
➡️ regional trade,
➡️ climate change,
➡️ food security,
➡️ human capital development, and
➡️ digitalisation.

AFIDEP is a member of  BRIDGE Africa consortium, one of three pan-African consortia delivering ATTP’s work. Coordinated by the African Centre for Economic Transformation (Ghana), BRIDGE Africa brings together AFIDEP (Kenya), the Nkafu Policy Institute of the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation (Cameroon), the South African Institute of International Affairs (South Africa), and the Policy Centre for the New South (Morocco), spanning East, West, Central, Southern and North Africa.

Within BRIDGE Africa, AFIDEP co-leads the human capital development workstream, and is a partner in the Climate Change workstream, contributing to actionable policy evidence uptake.

As a think tank, AFIDEP is generating high-quality, policy-ready evidence, ensuring that Agenda 2063 is driven by African solutions, informed by African expertise, and translated into real and measurable impact for our citizens.
