LIGHT Consortium’s Participatory Study Workshops

The LIGHT Consortium partners in Kenya, the African Institute for Development Policy & Respiratory Society of Kenya, will kick off a participatory qualitative study with a series of workshops in March 2024. The study aims to advance TB care models in Kenya tailored to the needs and rights of people of all genders.

The study aims to support healthcare workers providing TB services in Nairobi, Kenya to advance person-centred, rights-based, gender-responsive TB prevention and care. The participants include health practitioners from selected private and public primary healthcare facilities.

 

The participatory study seeks to answer to the following:

  • What is person-centred, rights-based, gender-responsive TB services? How is it different from standard care?
  • In which ways is TB care in their health facility differentiated or tailored to different groups of people? What works well or not so well?
  • What are the opportunities and potential challenges for implementing person-centred, rights-based, gender-responsive TB services in respective health facilities?
  • What do they need to be able to deliver TB care that is rights-based and responsive to the needs of different genders and groups of people?

The findings will be disseminated to relevant stakeholders, and will help inform policy formulation and practice.
