COVID-19 response: Experiences from East Africa

Since its emergence in Wuhan, China on 8 December 2019, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) continues to rapidly spread globally. The infectious virus has disrupted and overwhelmed health care systems, trade, social systems and has been associated with millions of infections and deaths worldwide. To date there have been multiple waves of COVID-19 epidemics associated with various variants.
This issue brief presents a summary of abstracts presented during the 8th East Africa Health Scientific Conference (EAHSC) on COVID-19; as well as key messages and recommendations from the review and synthesis of the abstracts. The Conference was held between 17-19 November 2021 in Nairobi, Kenya.
