AFIDEP is participating at the 2022 NGOs Week taking place between 14 – 17 March 2022 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya.
This year’s event is organised on the theme ‘celebrating NGOs adaptation, innovation and resilience in a global pandemic’. Underlying the theme is the recognition of the significant role the NGO sector in Kenya has and continues to play in complementing government efforts in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Key highlight of the event is the launch of the Annual NGO Sector report 2020/2021 which will be officiated by Dr. Fred O. Matiang’i, Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government. The report documents the status of the NGO sector during the year, including sector growth, distribution of operation, donor funding, sustainability and projects that have been implemented.
Organized by the Non-Governmental Organizations Co-ordination Board, the annual NGO Week serves as a platform for knowledge and experience sharing; raising awareness on NGOs’ role and impact in society; showcasing efforts and achievements of NGOs and enhancing collaboration and networking across the charitable, public and private sectors. The event also gives room to NGOs to showcase their initiatives, innovative solutions and best practices as well as social efforts.
The NGO Board has the responsibility of registering, regulating, facilitating and coordinating all national and international NGOs operating in Kenya; advising the government on their contribution to national development; providing policy guidelines for NGOs to align their activities with national priorities and receiving and analyzing NGOs’ annual reports.
At the NGOs Week event, AFIDEP will explore partnerships and areas of synergies as well as showcase our efforts and interventions in strengthening institutional capacity in evidence use to inform decision-making.
