Strengthening evidence translation and use and gender-responsiveness in maternal health advocacy, policy, practice and training
24 June 2026

How can research evidence be translated into meaningful action for maternal and newborn health? This inspiring story highlights the journey of Eunice Atsali, a midwife, academic, and policy advocate, whose participation in the Africa LEEPS Evidence-Informed Decision Making (EIDM) training strengthened her ability to translate evidence into policy, practice, and advocacy. From supporting the development of policy briefs and mentoring midwives to advancing gender-responsive decision-making and scaling up life-saving postpartum haemorrhage interventions across Kenya, Eunice’s experience demonstrates the power of evidence-informed leadership in driving health systems change.
