How can development organisations think differently about knowledge and learning in times of complexity, crisis, and conflict?

Crisis and complexity define the current political, social, and economic landscape. What role does evidence play in helping us navigate these turbulent times? In this event hosted by the Knowledge, Evidence and Learning for Development (K4D) Programme, leading international development experts, practitioners and policymakers will unpack the importance of rapid, reliable, and agile evidence in decision-making.

Join the K4D Programme and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for an exciting event that will celebrate K4D’s important and impactful work while looking to the future of how knowledge institutions and development agencies can collaborate to optimise the impact of development investments. The event will also draw together insights from four participatory, online thematic sessions taking place the week before, focusing on systems thinking; conflict; private sector; business and trade; and Covid-19 and its consequences. About K4D

The event draws on the six years experience of the K4D Programme. K4D has contributed to the global knowledge base and supported the organisational learning of FCDO and its partners. It has delivered over 1,200 rapid evidence reviews and facilitated 45 learning journeys backed up by nearly 300 knowledge products. This demand-led knowledge support has focused on how external evidence and the knowledge and insights of FCDO staff and partners can be integrated to enhance the impact of development investments.

The K4D model has been supporting FCDO’s knowledge needs and fostering evidence-informed dialogue on critical development issues. Increased global turbulence and crises, from the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, and multiple conflicts, create a context where decisions must be made quickly. Tackling these issues is challenging if there is little or no experience to draw from. This calls for agile, robust, and innovative knowledge, evidence, and learning.
