The African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) and the Population Reference Bureau (PRB) are hosting a Policy Fellows Training Workshop in Lilongwe, Malawi on 6-12 June 2019. The workshop targets PhD candidates from developing countries in their final year of doctoral studies, and the aim is to build their capacities, motivations and interests in engaging political leaders, government officials, and other decision-makers with their research evidence.

The workshop is part of a Policy Communication Fellows Programme that seeks to train the next generation of leaders who can shape policy in their countries, and bridge the gap between research findings and the policy development process. The programme trains doctoral students from developing countries to effectively communicate research to a non-technical audience.
