AFIDEP at ICPD
Event Date: 4 - 8 Oct 2026
Event Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Dr Eliya Zulu, Executive Director of the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP), will participate in the Consultation on the Future of International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in a Post-2030 Development Agenda on 4–5 October 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. He will also join selected sessions of the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA Global Leadership Meeting.

Convened by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual & Reproductive Rights (EPF), the consultation will bring together thought leaders, academics, civil society representatives and policy experts to reflect on the future of the ICPD agenda beyond 2030.

Discussions will consider how changing population dynamics, constrained development financing, technological advances and global political developments affect sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality and sustainable development. Participants will also explore partnerships, financing and accountability to sustain progress on the ICPD Programme of Action.

Dr Zulu’s participation in selected sessions of the UNFPA Global Leadership Meeting will provide an opportunity to contribute civil society perspectives to discussions with UNFPA leadership.
