During the UN General Assembly week in New York ahead of the Sustainable Development Summit, FHI 360 will convene global development thought leaders and practitioners to discuss the opportunities and challenges of integrated, multidisciplinary approaches for youth.
The meeting will focus on achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and a demographic dividend through integrated development for youth. Global decision-makers and local communities are actively debating which decisions, behaviors, actions and investments will be the most beneficial as the international community pivots from the MDGs to the SDG agenda in September 2015.
Arguments for or against specific, targeted solutions are becoming lost in the cacophony. Meanwhile, demand is growing for new, improved organizing constructs that can provide structure to the dialogue and better reflect the complex, interrelated nature of the updated goals and targets. One such construct is examining how strategically integrated, multi-sector investments in youth will reap wide-ranging benefits.
Dr Eliya Zulu, AFIDEP Executive Director who is a demographic dividend expert will open the forum with a keynote address. Other key speakers include UN Women Executive Director, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.
